Another Guineas Winner for Edinglassie - 16 Nov 2008
Winner of the New Zealand 2000 Gunieas, TELL A TALE, joins an elite list of Group One winners foaled and rasied on Edinglassie Stud. Horses such as Bentley Biscuit, Wonderful World, Gods Own, Nadeem, Sharscay, Miss Margaret, Suntain, Emerald Dream and Laisserfaire.

21yo Jamie Winning from Ebeneezer, competing in just her fifth World Cup qualifier, defeated her more experienced rivals to take out the presitigous event in Shepparton at the weekend. With 40mm of rain falling prior to the competition, conditions were testing for both horse and rider, with course designer David Sheppard being commended for his excellent work in designing a tough but fair course.

3 starts for 3 wins is an impressive result at any time of year - but when those 3 starts are during Melbourne's Spring Racing Carnival, it really is a massive achievement.
Grahame Begg's blockbusting week began on Derby Day, when All Silent won the AAMI Stakes, then on Oaks Day, Palacio De Cristal saluted, giving the stables 2 from 2. All Silent then backed up again, taking the feature race on Emirates Stakes Day, and rounding out a magical week for Team Begg.
Interestingly, not only does All Silent race of Horsepower products (Sweetfeed No.4) - but as the latest member of the Group One Winners from Widden Stud, he was also raised on Horsepower.

Well known racing identities Geoff and Beryl White produced yet another city winner with Readyor saluting in the Testa Rossa Handicap at Randwick on Saturday. The Jack Denham trained More Than Ready filly was extremely impressive in her win, and looks set for a big future. In keeping with tradition, the filly has a seven letter name, like so many other of the winners produced by the Whites, such as Marscay, Filante, Triscay and Eremein.

The Australian Showjumping Championships staged in Canberra over the weekend proved to be very successful for several Horsepower fed horses.
Wagga junior, Tom McDermott took out the Australian Junior Championship on Merriwa; Emily Blinkworth blitzed the field to take the Australian Young Rider Title on C.P Romantic Dream (Emily was also the runner-up on CP Rolex) and in the Senior title, Jamie Winning was the runner-up on Yandoo Vangelo. It was a great effort by Jamie, who at just 21 years of age, is still eligible for Young Rider events.

Two big wins for Horsepower raised horses at Caulfield on Saturday.
Willander (Exceed & Excel - Scandinavia) affirmed his class with a win in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes. The typey chestnut colt was born and raised on Eliza Park, before being sold at the 2007 Inglis Easter Sale for $625,000 to Darley Stud.
But the big win of the day, was that of Whobegotyou (Street Cry - Temple of Peace) in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas. Foaled and raised at Widden Stud for his breeder, David O'Keeffe, the geldings win in the classic race has been described as the best in 30 years.

Staged in the brand new Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC) in Tamworth, Rob was thrilled to take out the title in front of a large, enthusiastic crowd.

Another Randwick mile win for Mentality - 27 Sep 2008
The John Hawkes trained Mentality took out the first Group 1 of the season in Sydney with a win in the weight for age George Main Stakes at Randwick. It was a gutsy win by the strongly built chestnut, however, Hawkes was quoted as saying; "He pulled up well from the George Main."
It would seem the Epsom Handicap at Randwick will be the next test for Mentality.

Coffs Harbour trainer Jimmy Jarvis has continued his extraordinary run of success with Mr Gold Fire, by taking out the $60,000 Lismore Cup. The 7yo gelding has two Taree Cups, a Ballina Cup and a Coffs Harbour Cup already to his credit, and has proved to be a bargin buy for Jarvis, who purchased the horse for $4000 at the Tasmanian yearling sales.

The Kris Lees trained Samantha Miss continued her outstanding form to convincingly win the Group 2 Tea House Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday. Watch the race here on youtube
According to newspaper reports, Lees has confirmed the $3 million Cox Plate is certainly in his plans for the superstar filly, having already paid up the second acceptance.
Another Horsepower-fed winner was produced in the very next race at Rosehill when Fiumicino from the Hawkes stable, took out the Group 2 Hill Stakes. While the horses program over the coming weeks is still to be confirmed, Michael Hawkes reportedly did comment that the long term aim was the first Tuesday in November.
Earlier in the day, long time Horsepower clients Yarraman Park stud produced another city-winner when Lorne Dancer won the first race at Rosehill. Lorne Dancer was sold by the Yarraman Park at the 2006 Inglis Classic sales.
